In my practice, women come to the decision to have a breast augmentation procedure in their 30s in many different ways. They may finally have more financial freedom or more confidence in moving forward to capture that desired result.
It’s also true that some women may begin to notice changes in their breasts at some point in their 30s. Why? As we age, we lose collagen at the rate of roughly 1% per year – sometimes faster, sometimes slower depending on your genes. Certain life events like pregnancy and breastfeeding can also speed up collagen loss, which can lead to loss of structure.
The choice to get breast surgery is 100% individual, so here’s what I tell my friends, family and patients considering the procedure:
Understand Your Goals
Before scheduling a consultation, take some time for introspection. What are your expectations from breast augmentation? Is it to regain fullness after pregnancy and breastfeeding, improve symmetry, or simply enhance your natural curves? Understanding your goals is crucial for a successful outcome.
Consultation is Key
Choosing the right plastic surgeon is paramount. Schedule consultations with board-certified professionals who demonstrate expertise and passion in breast augmentation. During these meetings, discuss your goals, concerns, and ask any questions you may have. A skilled surgeon and their expert team will provide personalized recommendations and ensure you have realistic expectations. At 360 Plastic Surgery, I lead a team of passionate people who are invested in our clients’ and patients’ outcomes and satisfaction.
Implants: The Choices You’ll Make
When it comes to breast augmentation, you have various options, including implant type, volume, profile, and placement. Silicone or saline implants, high profile, moderate profile, low profile – these choices should be tailored to your unique body and desired outcome. Your surgeon and their expert team will guide you through these decisions, so you arrive at the perfect fit for your aesthetic goals.
Timing is Everything
The timing of your breast augmentation is important, especially in your 30s. Your body has likely settled into its adult form, making it a great age for the procedure. You likely have a time-tested exercise and nutrition regimen, which is great. Additionally, considering factors like career, family planning, and lifestyle changes is crucial when determining the right time for your surgery.
Additional procedures
It goes without saying that, no mom needs a makeover, but sometimes surgeons refer to the array of procedures they can offer to women post-baby as a “mommy makeover.” Women who have chosen to undergo a procedure may choose to address other areas at the same time. Some examples:
- Breast implants
- Breast lift
- Breast implants + lift
- Tummy tuck
- Butt lift
- Thigh lift
- Fat transfer
- VASER Liposuction
- Labiaplasty
When scheduling a consultation, please let your surgeon’s team know if you’re interested in learning more about any additional procedures.
Recovery and Self-Care
Breast augmentation requires a few days of downtime. Ensure you have a support system in place to assist with daily tasks during your initial healing days. Follow all post-operative care instructions diligently will promote a smooth recovery and help you achieve optimal results.
As your plastic surgeon, my goal is to provide you with the information and guidance necessary to make an informed decision. Book a consultation with us to explore your options fully and to learn more about my breast augmentation process.
