360 Plastic Surgery was one of the first plastic surgery practices in Texas to offer Skinvive. Just recently approved by the FDA, this treatment is in a brand new class of injectables distinct from neuromodulators that smooth lines like Botox or Dysport or the popular hyaluronic-based fillers like Juvederm or Restylane that plump or add structure.
What is Skinvive?
While topical skincare and glowy makeup are great ways to get the glass skin look, the results are temporary. Skinvive is the first injectable designed specifically to boost hydration and smooth the cheeks. Think: #Glassskin #dewydumplingskin and #glowyskin that lasts for months.
Though treatment has been available in Europe and other parts of the world for some time, it’s the first of its kind in the US. Sometimes referred to as a “skin booster” rather than a filler – this injectable improves texture and makes skin look smoother without adding fullness. Translation? It changes the appearance of your skin without changing the shape of your face.
How does Skinvive work?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the skin that absorbs moisture from the air to keep all of the skin on your body hydrated. Ever notice that your skin looks fantastic on a tropical vacation? The hyaluronic acid in your skin drinks in the extra humidity in the air making it look extra bouncy.
You can also add extra hyaluronic acid to your skin with topical skincare products like HA-5 by Skinmedica, which also make skin look plumper and smoother.
The Skinvive treatment gives longer-lasting hydration and plumpness by injecting dilute hyaluronic acid directly into the skin so you can wake up looking refreshed and radiant – even before that SkinMedica Hyaluronic Acid Serum or Charlotte Tilbury Highlighter.
The treatment time is short (a few minutes), and I use a tiny Botox-sized needle for the treatment (not painful!)
How long does Skinvive last?
In clinical trials, patients reported that skin looked dewier and more radiant for three to six months post-procedure, though some patients may require a touch-up at the one-month mark for maximum results.
Who should get the Skinvive hydration treatment?
Just about anyone who wants to improve skin quality is a candidate. Gen Z and younger millennial patients who are not yet seeing fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss can try the treatment for longer-lasting hydration without a complicated skincare or makeup routine. If you’re already experiencing volume loss and are looking for fullness or more structure, you may not be satisfied with Skinvive alone. At 360 Plastic Surgery, we will offer Skinvive in conjunction with fillers as needed as part of a comprehensive plan to provide our patients with the most beautiful results.
